Local detail

Handy for West Vale, Greetland and the Lowfields estate

The run in from Elland is the easy bit. West Vale and Greetland come down to the A6025 and along the valley floor in six or seven minutes. Holywell Green and Stainland drop down Saddleworth Road and add another five. From Ainley Top it's quicker to come down the hill to us than to fight through Huddersfield for an indoor unit.

The Lowfields Business Park end of Elland is where a lot of our business customers come from. Firms there often need somewhere to put stock or plant that doesn't justify taking another unit on the estate - a container at £190 a month with no rates, no service charge and 14 days' notice does the job for a fraction of the cost. Elland households mostly use us mid-move or mid-renovation, and the valley-bottom route means a hired van isn't wrestling with hills either way.

Quick answers

Elland storage questions

How long does it take from Elland?

Around eight minutes on the A6025 along the valley - it's flat, straightforward and avoids the Ainley Top roundabout entirely, which is usually the slow part of any journey out of Elland.

Can I get a van or a Luton onto the yard?

Yes. Calder Street is a proper yard with hard standing and room to turn, so you can reverse a Luton or a 7.5 tonne lorry right up to the container doors and load straight off the tailgate. No lift, no corridor, no booking a loading bay.

How much is the deposit, and do I get it back?

It's £150, taken with your first payment, and it comes back to you in full when you leave - provided the container is emptied and left as you found it. It isn't rent in advance and it isn't an admin fee.

How much notice do I have to give?

Fourteen days, running from the day we receive it rather than to the end of the month. Rent runs by the calendar month, so if you know you're going it's worth telling us at least 14 days before the month ends.

Do I need my own padlock, or insurance?

We supply a good padlock with every container, so there's nothing to buy on the way. Your own contents insurance is your responsibility - most home policies extend to goods in storage, but it's worth a call to your insurer to check rather than assume.
